Weather Roller Coaster

We have had CRAZY weather this week! We went from almost 70 degrees on Monday to about 8 in. of snow today and we're supposed to be back up to 74 degrees by Monday! So, on Monday we were enjoying the nice weather playing outside. Poor little Carter tripped and fell into a bush that was dry and a stick went into his head! I picked him up and it instantly started gushing blood. I couldn't believe how much it was bleeding. By the time I got upstairs to our apartment (I had been yelling for Mike as I went up) so when he opened the door he saw Carter's head and shirt covered in blood! We got him in the tub to clean it up so we could see the damage. Luckily it didn't bleed for very long, but it was a pretty good gash. So, we went to the on-call doctor because it was about 8:00 pm and he had to get 1 staple! It was pretty traumatic, but he did well and even said "Thank you doctor" when he was done. He slept fine that night and hasn't been too bothered by it since. I had to take him to Young Women's with me last night because Mike was studying for finals and Carter kept saying "I have a staple in my head" over and over. So, he's apparently kind of proud of it?! He's so funny. We go Saturday morning for them to take it out. Hopefully that's not as bad as I'm imagining it to be. So, here are some pictures of the staple...and the winter wonderland we woke-up to today!

You can't see it really, but just so you can see where it is at on his head.

The wound...poor little guy.

Winter Wonderland on April 16th?!

All of these really pretty trees with bright pink blossoms in our area bloommed on Monday and then the weight of the snow and the blossoms was too much, so almost all of them and limbs broken off now! I'm so sad.

More sad trees!

Carter's 2!!!

I can't believe Carter is 2 years old! In some ways it seems so much longer, but I still can't believe he's already 2. He had a great day I think! He got up and I made him eggs, bacon and cinnamon muffins (all of his favorites) for breakfast. Then he got to open 1 present. Which happened to be his tent we got him from Ikea. It proved to be a big hit. Sadly I can't really remember what we did for the rest of the day, but we had a party for him at 5:00 with some of our friends from Law School, the Ponds, Colvins, and the Phipps. It was a pirate theme as you'll notice in the pictures below. We had Little Ceasars Pizza and Crazy Bread and cake and ice cream. All in all I think he had a very fun birthday! Thanks to Lesley we have lots of great pictures from the party, but here are just a few.

Just after he woke -up and saw all his presents on the table!
He opened his tent first so he could play in it all day.
At the party.
All the kids playing in the tent.

I just thought this was a funny picture.
The cake I made: Pirate Island!
The party gang....don't you just love our hats?!
Carter eating his fork instead of the cake?

I somehow forgot to put the candles in the cake when we sang to him...so we sang to him again while I just held them up for him.

Carter felt like he needed some space while he was opening his presents, so he went into his tent!

We're Alive and Well!

So....I kind of took a little break from blogging. The first month or so I just felt like we hadn't done much to update, but then I looked through the pictures on my camera and realized we had! Then we found out that I'm pregnant (yeah!) and I was tired so instead of blogging while Carter took his nap...I was napping while Carter took his nap! So, now I have tons to catch-up on, but I won't. I'll just do some highlights from each of the months I took off.
February:

This was actually in January, but I had to post a picture from our favorite place...Pudding on the Rice. With some of our favorite people-The Colvins. Little did we know this would be our last trip! They closed down unannounced a couple weeks later! We are SO sad.

So, the rumors are true...we are expecting! I am due October 6th.

We found out the hard way that poor little Carter is allergic to Penecillin! He had an ear infection and they put him on Amoxicillin and about a week into it he broke out in hives from head to toe. They got much worse than this picture shows. You can't really see it very well in this picture, but I didn't want to post the full nudity pictures that really grasp how bad it got. This was only day 2 or 5 that he had it. They got progressively worse each day until day 5. As usual though he was a good sport about it. Other than the huge red spots I wouldn't have even known he was sick!

Chilpotle is a favorite of Mike and I's...and now Carter's too! He loves their chips and guacamole and here he just picked up my huge burrito and started chowing down!

One day he decided he wanted to wear just his boots and play in with his kitchen. Maybe he' on to something, it might make making dinner more exciting!
Carter and my cousin's cute little girl having a jam session.
Sorry this picture is so blurry, but I LOVE it! They were being so cute.

March:

The Children's Hour for the Law School Spouses went to a fire station for a tour in March. Carter LOVED it! The kids were able to get up in the trucks and play around. Carter was in Heaven. Here's a few pictures from the trip.

Sitting on the wheel.

Driving the truck.

Just being silly...wearing his Happy Meal box as a hat!

Carter LOVES chocolate donuts. He dumped the bag out on his tray and was clearly very pleased with himself. Don't worry, we didn't let him eat all those...though I'm sure he would if we let him!

We walked over to Toys 'R' Us one day and Carter loved getting in all the cars and riding all the tricycles. He especially liked driving Lightening McQueen as you can see.
