Carter the Busy-Body!

Since we've been spending a lot of time indoors lately I've been trying to come up with fun things to do for Carter, but I'm not always successful. We made Halloween cookies one day, we've played PlayDough, gotten a few new toys, he rides his tricycle around the house, and had a few "popcorn parties"; which is the fun way to say we've watched movies! Like I said, I'm not always successful. The other day while I was feeding Emory, Carter was playing in his room and I realized he was being too quiet. I went in to find that he had climbed up on the changing table and had just about an entire tube of diaper cream in his hair! That is not easy stuff to get out since it is made to keep moisture away. After about 10 washes it came out. I was worried I was going to have to shave his hair now that he finally has some! This was also the day before we were getting family pictures done...needless to say, I was very happy when it came out without shaving his head. I should also mention that this was the day after we woke-up to him calling for us in his room. Michael being the good husband he is went to get him so I could sleep a little longer while he got ready to leave for school. I heard Carter saying "ouch" a few times and whining, but I figured Michael would come get me if it were anything serious. A few minutes later he came and got me. Carter had climbed over the changing table and was sitting on the garbage can right next to the crib with one leg stuck between the slats! I didn't think to take a picture of it. I was too busy trying to think of a way to get his leg out without having to saw our crib. Luckily a little lotion saved our crib and Carter's leg. I wish there were some other way to arrange the furniture in the room so he can't climb on the changing table, but when you are working with a 10x10 room, with a bed, crib and changing table, there is only one option. So, I'll probably have most posts through the winter of the mischief he causes. So, wish me luck as winter approaches and we spend more days inside. One of my good friends did a post on her blog when he daughter got into the sugar and she said instead of getting mad she just grabbed her camera and it made the whole situation better. So, I was inspired by her when I walked in and first wanted to yell, but instead grabbed my camera and here's how it went! In case you can't hear/understand him, when I ask him what he's doing he says "putting medicine in my hair". Also sorry I wasn't thinking and shot some vertical not thinking about how that doesn't work for videos, but it's still funny.

I love Fall...through the window!

Fall is my FAVORITE time of year. I love going for walks in the crisp air, the changing leaves, cozy clothes, new TV shows, pumpkin patches, and the holidays just around the corner. I just love it! Though, with a newborn and swine flu spreading around here like wildfire, sadly I've had to enjoy these things mostly looking through the window. It was nice this weekend though so we went for walks every chance we got. Carter loved playing in the leaves. Sadly I forgot my camera one day and the day I had it, he just wasn't cooperating for cute fall pictures. I'll try again soon! I also had to post the latest pics of little Emory. She's such a sweet baby. Very content and sleeps well.

Emory Lee Hawkins

Sorry this has taken me so long to post, but 2 kids is much busier than 1! Emory surprised us by coming 15 days early! She was born September 21, 2009 at 3:20 PM. She was 6 lbs. 4 oz. and 18.5 in. long. Carter came running into our room at his bright and early wake-up time of 6:50 am and I got up...and my water broke! So, I called Michael who had just walked out the door to go to school. We took Carter to our friends the Colvins and went to the hospital. I thought it would be a long day, but they started me on pitocin and things progressed rather quickly. I only had to push with 3 contractions and she was here! This pregnancy was so different from Carter's from beginning to end. I wasn't very sick, she came 15 days early vs. 6 days late, I only had to push for less than 10 minutes vs. 2 hours and the forceps! So, now we're just trying to adjust to having 2 kids that demand our attention! Things are going pretty well though. Carter LOVES his little sister and wants to hold and kiss her all the time. Random Post...

August has been pretty low key for us so far. We've just been enjoying doing things together as a family. Going for walks, went to the outlets in Park City, and the highlight was getting together with my sister Emily and her family while they were in Utah visiting her in-laws. We met at Thanksgiving Point and went to the Dinosaur Museum and then went to lunch at Cafe Rio. We had so much fun seeing them. It just wasn't nearly enough time! Carter loved running around with his cousins and I loved getting talk with Emily...nothing quite like spending time with your sister! Hopefully one of these days we won't live 2,000+ miles away from each other!

Carter was being silly one morning and decided to put his little PJ shorts on his head. I think everything about this picture is hilarious...the shorts, his pose...everything!


Carter wanted to wear a tie to church like Daddy, but we don't have any little ties, so Mike tied one of his on. Doesn't he look so cute! He wouldn't take it off...so we let him wear it through Sacrament...then he was willing to take it off before nursery.

We're going to have to make a stop at the Children's Place this week to buy a little tie for him. That's the only place I can think of that I've seen baby ties...anyone know anywhere else?

Boise Fun!

We decided very last minute (about 2 hours before we left) to take a trip to Boise. Ben called and said Nikki had had their little boy and so we decided we'd drive up that night since Michael didn't have a job to interfere with the trip yet...because we were planning on going later in the month or in August. So, we left that night July 10th and stayed until the 15th. We had SO much fun. I always hate leaving. Carter absolutely had the best time of his life. We got there late (2:30 AM) Friday/Saturday. Then we went to see the baby Saturday morning. He's such a cute, sweet little boy! He has so much dark hair which we all love because that is definitely a first for a Wilson baby. That afternoon we just played at the house. My parent's backyard is Carter's dream yard! He LOVED and I loved picking raspberries. He loved the trampoline, playing with the digger and dump truck in the rocks, swimming, and watering the flowers and garden with Grandpa. Monday we took Carter fishing at a little pond that it stocked with tiny little fish that bite basically as soon as your hook hits the water. Carter had so much fun and especially liked watching the worms. My dad had a cute little fishing pole for him and he reeled in his own fish and everything. We let grandpa do the dirty work of putting the worms on and getting the fish off and back in the water though. We also enjoyed the new park just up the street. Oh, and no trip to Boise now is complete without a trip to Uncle Gregg's farm! Carter loved the new additions...Llamas and goats! I don't know how, but I didn't get any pictures of them though! It is so pretty out there. Carter loved running around with his cousins and of course playing in the pile of dirt with diggers. Gregg made some delicious dutch oven cobbler and ice cream too. I just love going home to Boise. We had SO much fun and were so sad to leave.

First part of July...

So, Michael came back from his internship on the 4th of July and we are SO happy to have him home. Carter ran up and gave him the biggest hug when we picked him up at the airport. They have been pretty much inseparable since! Carter LOVES his daddy that's for sure. So, we picked Michael up and that night we went up by the Provo temple to watch the fireworks. They were kind of a let down this year. They went for maybe 5 minutes then stopped for like 10 minutes and then went for maybe another 5 minutes! What's up with that?! Pretty weak, but Carter still loved them, so it was worth the effort to go and keep him up late to watch.
Also we got the room all set-up with Carter's new "big-boy-bed" and the crib and such all set-up. I don't have a picture of it all yet, but here's the name for our baby girl that I've hung over the crib. (this is just on the counter before I hung it) Carter adjusted great to his bed. He just loves it! He doesn't get out of it at night or for naps either which is awesome! He still just calls for us when he wakes up and won't get out of his bed until we come and open the door and then he jumps down? I don't know why he does that, but I'm not complaining! It's so cute because during the day he goes in and plays and puts his monkey stuffed animals to bed just like I put him to bed. He goes in and turns on the fan, sings songs (usually I am a child of God, La-La-Loo, and I love to see the temple) tucks them in with the blanket and comes out and shuts the door. It's so cute to hear him sing the songs all by himself! I love it. I am trying to get it on video, but haven't had much success yet. I'll post it when I do though!

A couple of days before Michael got home my friend Laci and I took our kids up and walked by Bridal Veil Falls. It is so pretty and green up in the mountains! Carter LOVES to go for walks by the "riber" as he calls it and the waterfalls.

Here's the name for our baby girl! I'll take a picture soon with it actually up on the wall and you can see how it coordinates with her bedding and such. I amd so pleased with how it turned out. this was a fun project I did while Michael was gone.
